This page explains what to include in an inquiry so that it can be answered properly. An inquiry that names the camera and the scene, and asks for the model, specifications, terms and documents to be confirmed in writing, will get a more useful answer than an inquiry that asks only for a price.

What to include in your inquiry

Name the camera the lens will be fitted to, including whether it is a CCTV camera, an industrial camera or a board camera, and name the mounting arrangement if it is known. Describe the scene the camera must cover, the mounting position, the light conditions and what the picture must show: a whole area, a particular point, or both at different times.

Name the lens category that seems closest, whether CCTV, C Mount industrial, M12 board, varifocal and zoom, or low distortion, and say what the lens must do that a general lens would not: adjust its view, focus by itself, cover a wide area, examine a distant point, or keep shapes true for measurement. State the quantity in general terms, and ask for the minimum order quantity, lead time and price for that quantity.
